In #BehindTheClassic, I dig deeper in the history of hardstyle classics. I will try to give some background infomation about the track or some little facts you might not have known yet.
First of all I would like to thank all of you for the responds of previous blog. This new post is about another hardstyle hero who’s been one of the founders of the Hardstyle scene. I am talking about nobody less than DJ Zany! Zany, one of the founders of Fusion and member of the Donkey Rollers, also had an impressive solo career. After making impressive anthems for Qlimax & Decibel, Zany was given the chance to do a Defqon anthem in 2009. This anthem became Zany – Maximum Force (Defqon 1 Australia Anthem 2009)
Defqon 1 Australia
In 2009 Q-Dance hosted not one, but two editions of the famous Defqon 1 Festival for the first time. With a great line up including Dj’s as The Prophet, Brennan Heart & Max Enforcer this first edition was already legendary. Zany was given the honor of making the first official anthem for the Australian edition. Check out the aftermovie below:
The theme ‘Maximum Force’ has been used by Q-Dance several times for Defqon 1. In 2003 there was no anthem yet, but the theme was Maximum Force Readiness. These same were used in the lyrics of Zany’s Maximum Force. Also this year ‘s edition of Defqon (2018) will have the same theme as in 2009: Maximum Force.
For me, this is one the finest example of a hardstyle classic (I use the term classic for the period of 2006-2010, roughly). The track starts with a typical reversed bass and bouncy mid intro. There’s a break that sets the atmosphere and than the uplifitng melody is combined with deep kicks. Funny thing is that I discovered this track in 2015 for the first time. I was really surprised by the quality of the track and the fact that I had never heard of this Defqon anthem before 😛
What’s your opinion of Maximum Force by Zany? Let me know in the comments 🙂
Hope you liked this second blog post, let me know what I can improve!
